PETALING JAYA: The government is working with various stakeholders to achieve zero forced labour or anything which involves human rights violations by the year 2030, says the Human Resources Ministry.

"This was the message by the Deputy Human Resources Minister at the first Responsible Glove Alliance organised by Responsible Business Alliance attended by 200 participants on Sept 21," said the ministry in a statement on Tuesday .

The participants were government representatives, glove manufacturers in Malaysia, international bodies and embassy members of the United States and the United Kingdom. "The minister in his speech congratulated the forming of RGA, which was to eliminate the use of forced labour in the glove manufacturing supply chain in Malaysia," the statement said.

It added that the minister also welcomed the lifting of the import ban on Supermax Corp Bhd's gloves in the US by the country's Customs and Border Protection which was announced on Sept 19. "The Human Resources Ministry suggested that strong cooperation be created among the government, employer, workers unions and businesses to implement risk factors to assess the level of exploitation in the industry," it said.
