Queensland’s tourism sector has made a record-breaking rebound since the pandemic. Visitors to the Sunshine State spent more than $33 billion in the 12 months to June, according to data from Tourism Research Australia. A number much higher than the previous record set back in 2019. Nearly 36 million visitors entered the state made up mostly of New Zealanders and interstate holidaymakers. The state still managed to attract more than a million international visitors despite the key Chinese tourist market having not fully recovered yet.
