Man taken to hospital in stable condition after crane fell on scaffolding at Glebe site just after midday

A man has been taken to hospital with back injuries after a crane collapsed at theEmergency services were called to the construction site on Bridge Road in Glebe just after midday after the arm of the crane fell into scaffolding.

Multiplex, the construction company that owns the crane, confirmed the crane collapsed inside the work site. “A serious incident has occurred at the new Sydney Fish Market site where a crane jib has collapsed, injuring one worker,” a spokesperson said. “The worker has been taken to hospital in a stable condition.

“The crane is within the compounds of the site. The site has been evacuated and there is no risk to the workforce or public. “We are offering our full support to emergency services, SafeWork NSW and the workforce. We will work with the relevant authorities to carry out a full investigation.”A spokesperson for SafeWork said they would not comment on the investigation.
