Barely a year after the Lagos State government initiated the reconstruction of the roads leading to Ladipo market, the project appears to have been abandoned with no sighting of the contractor in the last four months. Nigeria LadipoMarket Lagos

Barely a year after the Lagos State government began the reconstruction of the roads leading to Ladipo auto spare-parts market at Toyota bus-stop on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Mushin, the project has been abandoned with no presence of the contractor on site for about four months. The reconstruction was part of the state’s reconstruction of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road and regeneration of the entire Oshodi axis.

In the interval, a portion of the road has become a dumpsite for traders as it is no longer motorable, leaving the other part of the road, which had already been fixed last year as the only alternative route to access to the area. Trucks bringing in containers of imported spare parts hassle through the available single lane with other road users, thereby leading to traffic congestion lasting hours.

The state government had also announced in 2018 plans to construct a pedestrian bridge at Toyota bus-stop in response to the yearnings of traders, but the project is yet to take off with about 10 weeks to the expiration of the Akinwunmi Ambode-led administration.

Abandoned project by AkinwunmiAmbode outgoing Lagos State govt. What happen to the funds allocated to the project? Hope this will not be like other contracts awarded in multiple times, to defraud Lagos tax payers and Lagosians?
