What’s happening on and off the Hill today, plus the news you need to start your day.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland arrives to hold a press conference in the National Press Theatre in Ottawa on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023.

As of right now, however, it looks like they’ll have to wait at least one more day to cross-examine Trudeau himself — according to his latest posted itinerary, he’s set to spend the day off the radar in “private meetings” while his cabinet second-in-command,, handles the first round of cross-aisle questions this afternoon.

According to her office, Freeland is also booked in for a mid-afternoon chat with “business leaders from the mining and steel industries.”
