Meijer's Fairfax Market is celebrating Black History Month by introducing Black Business Owners.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Meijer’s Fairfax Market opened last month on East. 105th Street and many say it’s already a welcome addition to the community.

This weekend the store hosted a “Meet the Maker: Celebrating Black-Owned Businesses for Black History Month. Owners set up displays all around the market and invited customers to taste, try and sample their products while answering their questions.“Well, it’s awesome, I was raised in this neighborhood, moved out and came back and it’s just a joy to be able to come back and it’s just a joy to be able and come back and bring my good food to my neighbors and school friends and everyone in the neighborhood,” she said.

Candace Toney from Designs by CT started her business a few years ago and has been looking to be build her brand. She’s thrilled to see her creations on the shelves. “This is actually my first retail opportunity and it’s amazing. I started my business in 2020 during the pandemic and I found something that was therapeutic, and I took it from a hobby to a business and it has just been great and so it’s just a great opportunity that they even allowed us to come here and showcase,” she said.
