Fifty new jobs are to be created in Wicklow by an Irish solar energy services company

Crowley Carbon is to invest €10 million in three projects with the aim of increasing the amount of solar energy produced here by 50%.

The business is working on projects in Ghana, Mexico and Poland and has already finished a 6 Megawatt solar installation in the UK. "Ireland's position on Solar is unfortunately quite poor, with our installed base of solar standing at a mere 8 MW in contrast to the UK, with similar sunlight, having 1,600 times more solar than we do," said founder and chief executive, Norman Crowley.
