How much do you love your job? Is it simply a means to an end, or is there some greater purpose at play? The search for meaning at work has becomeInspired by his beloved yellow labrador Buddy, McTeigue dropped a career in telecommunications in search of his greater purpose.

“Our mission is to make sure that no adoptable dog in Australia is euthanised,” Michael says. “Products are the dollar engine that helps us help animal rescue groups.” Since early 2019, SavourLife has also hosted the online dog rehoming platform Adopt-A-Dog, in the hope of finding forever homes for as many dogs as possible. Adopt-A-Dog offers adoption listings with photos, descriptions and filters to help people find a dog that fits their circumstances.

“I don’t think any business owner would say that business is always smooth sailing,” Michael says. “The first few years were very difficult.” Success, though, seems to have owed as much to that model as any initial difficulties did.
