The Opposition has hit out at the federal government, claiming it has 'failed on every single step of the way' with energy generation.

'Failed on every step of the way': Opposition lashes federal government over 'mess in the energy market' as power debate heats up

Responding to the AER's Default Market Offer on Tuesday, shadow energy minister Ted O'Brien blamed the Albanese government for the"mess" in the market. "So if you look at those key forms of energy generation, Labor has failed on every single step of the way and that is a direct consequence of their policy settings."Shadow energy affordability minister Melissa McIntosh said there was"no one celebrating on the streets of Western Sydney" in the wake of the AER's announcement on Tuesday, as many families still face immense financial pressures.

"One food bank in particular said to be, from Penrith, that they’re now paying people’s electricity bills. This is extraordinary." Labor is backslapping themselves about small reductions in electricity prices. Some will receive a $1 / week saving. Geez thanks!Mr Bowen said the changes, due to come into effect on July 1, will impact every energy bill directly or indirectly.
