Traders at the Victoria Centre Market in Nottingham express concerns over incidents of sex, drug use, and theft. Some traders feel unsafe and unable to leave their stands unattended. The market is set to close soon, according to Nottingham City Council.

People having sex, using drugs and stealing are among incidents reported at the Victoria Centre Market in recent months as one trader says they need "eyes in the back of their head." Ahead of the historic venue's imminent closure, which Nottingham City Council says it is still planning to go ahead with this summer, some of the remaining traders say they can't even leave their stands unattended to go to the toilet.

Carole Lilley has been trading at the market for nearly 40 years and currently runs 'Carole's', an underwear stall. The 65-year-old said: "I don't want to be in this kind of working environment. I sometimes have to wait for hours if I want to go to the toilet so that the store isn't left, because there is nobody else around me now." The trader says she has personally seen someone injecting heroin in the market's toilets and has also heard of couples having sex in the stairwell leading up to the marke
