It's a two-hour drive from Nottingham and well worth a visit

A small market town that sits on the border between England and Wales is famous for its beauty and its deep, thousand-year-old historical connections to the area. Oswestry, in Shropshire, is just three miles from the Welsh border, a quick eight-minute car journey from the English-Welsh border town Rhydycroesau.

The town market has been running for over 800 years and is known today as the perfect spot to grab a bargain, reports the Express. Oswestry is a relatively small town, with about 17,509 people living there in 2021, according to the most recent census. The markets - which are open twice a week - draw people from far and wide and offer a chance to explore the town centre. Those who stroll through the town streets can discover award-winning shops, local breweries, a distillery, and even a vineyard.
