'Unseasonably strong winds' could be expected at the weekend

Organisers of a popular makers market event in Stockport have been forced to cancel a Spring event scheduled for this weekend due to expected bad weather.

However, the Shaw Road market on Sunday has been cancelled altogether due to the weather forecast. The Met Office recently issued a weather warning for snow, wind, and rain over the weekend due to Storm Kathleen, saying that 'unseasonably strong winds' could be expected with gusts of up to 50mph.Posting on Facebook, the market’s organisers wrote: “Cancelled - this Sunday's Market April 7th. The wind speeds are too high for us to have the market on Sunday, it's just too dangerous.

Bosses said the market would not be rescheduled for April, with the next event now taking place on May 5. In response, some people shared their sadness at this weekend’s market being cancelled.
