Bruce McWilliam, the outgoing commercial director of Seven Network, privately admitted to investigating claims of potential misuse of company resources, contradicting his previous denial. In correspondence with senior News Corp editors, McWilliam described the allegations as 'not of great consequence'. The admission raises questions about the network's handling of the situation.

Seven’s outgoing commercial director Bruce McWilliam privately admitted that the network had examined claims about the potential misuse of company resources just two days after denying elsewhere that any investigation had been conducted.

In response, McWilliam emailed News Corp figures on October 7 saying: “Seven as the employer has dealth with it in a confidential and proportionate manner and it is not of great consequence. Policies have been tightened.

McWilliam’s later emails to Samios stated Pell had “discretionary” use over Sunrise’s contra resources in any event.
