A global investment firm based in New York City has hooked and reeled in the Bass Pro Shops sporting goods store at The Rim shopping center. A shell company linked with Fortress Investment Group, which manages more than $48 billion in assets worldwide, has acquired the 24-acre, 182,000 square-foot store, Bexar County property records show. The prior owner was an entity linked with Starwood Property Trust, an affiliate of Starwood Capital Group, an investment firm based in Miami.
Entertainment, dining complex to open near Rim. It’s a Dallas firm’s second location in San Antonio. The purchase price was undisclosed. The Bexar Appraisal District valued the property at $21.8 million this year. Representatives of Starwood and Fortress Investment didn’t respond to requests for comment. According to county records, the transaction closed Feb. 29. The Rim has attracted a lot of real estate interest in recent years.
