A photo of 54-year-old Reyna Hernandez, who left her home in the Renton Highlands on Feb. 26 to run errands and never returned. The Renton Police Department said Hernandez’s body was found in a cemetery in Mexicali, Mexico. Police said a 61-year-old Renton resident was taken into custody. The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged 61-year-old Lous Hernandez with first-degree murder in connection to Reyna Hernandez’s death.
Renton police said the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and the Office of International Affairs of the U.S. Department of Justice are putting together an extradition request packet. Renton detectives were alerted to a Mexicali news article on March 8 about an unidentified body found in a local cemetery on the Tijuana Highway. Investigators on the missing persons case contacted Mexican authorities and provided enough information to identify the body as Reyna Hernandez.Carrillo-Hernandez said Lous Hernandez had been her sister's partner for many years. Carrillo-Hernandez did not know him very well but added that her sister didn’t deserve to die like this.
