Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) The city is celebrating local minority and women entrepreneurs and community leaders.

The second annual City of Rochester Upstate MWBE Conference kicked off Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

Rochester, N.Y. — The city is celebrating local minority and women entrepreneurs and community leaders.Conference kicked off Wednesday evening at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center with an awards dinner and a keynote address. MWBE is a federal program aimed to help minority and women business owners overcome racial and structural barriers to securing government contracts for goods and services.The yearly event gives people the chance to network and participate in interactive training sessions.

Additionally, Rochester Mayor Malik Evans and Monroe County Executive Adam Bello presented a special surprise for longtime organizer Constance Mitchell-Jefferson. "We do hereby proclaim May 8, 2024 to be Constance Mitchell-Jefferson Day in Rochester and Monroe County," Evans said.LAST YEAR:
