The woman had actually gotten into the car of a man named Nicolas Morales, who was later accused in 2018 of raping or assaulting eight women in Los Angeles by posing as their Uber drivers. He abducted and raped her, according to court documents. Two other women, named as Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 3, say they were also raped in separate incidents by a man who they believed had been the Uber drivers they called to take them home from Los Angeles-area nightclubs. Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 3 were said to have been raped by a man named Walter Velasquez, who was recently sentenced to eight years in prison after posing as an Uber driver to assault women.

I rode with Uber twice recently while on a trip out of town. The Uber driver should confirm his/her identity when you reserve the ride with name, car color and type, and license plate number.

Wait... I don't understand.... when you order a car the company sends you, make, model, year, color of the Uber Drivers car and their name and they know your name. It's a safety feature. How is it Ubers fault that these ladies GOT INTO THE WRONG CAR WITH ALL THAT INFORMATION?
Oh good grief. How ridiculous. And we wonder what's wrong with our nation? Uber is not responsible for criminals pretending to be drivers.
When u call uber or lyft it shows pictures (car and driver), license, model, color... they cant proctect drunk people from their own stupidity.
This seems like a good reason for amazon to stop selling fake uber/lyft decals on their website, on the other hand... money.
I use Lyft. Uber doesn’t give you a photo of your driver on their app?
