Recent filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation show $9 million in construction projects at SpaceX and Boring Co. sites.

Elon Musk is continuing his corporate construction campaign in Texas with more than $9 million in projects in Bastrop County involving two of his ventures: SpaceX and The Boring Co. SpaceX, Musk’s commercial space company, intends to build a $7 million project to add 150,000 square feet to its ECHO office building at its Starlink satellite factory, according to a filing Saturday with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

SpaceX’s Starlink subsidiary poised for record revenue in 2024 The ECHO building expansion project marks the newest addition to SpaceX’s growing facility about a 15-minute drive from the city of Bastrop’s downtown, where the company manufactures its Starlink satellites. SpaceX has invested more than $48.2 million in infrastructure at the site, including a $43 million, 521,521-square-foot satellite factory.

‘They are going to kill somebody’: Whistleblowers raise safety concerns at Elon Musk’s Boring Co. The Boring Co., across the street from the Starlink factory, has been less successful than the satellite company, while its activity in Bastrop County has frazzled neighbors in the rural community with noise, traffic, drainage problems and code violations. The Boring Co. has also encountered worker safety concerns and complaints with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
