In prepared remarks reported by The Australian, O’Brien warned that it had become “undeniably expensive” to manufacture in Australia, and the crisis could see food manufacturers shift their operations overseas. But likening food manufacturing cost pressures to the strain households are under misses a fundamental point.

According to those financials, Mondelēz, which produces everything from Oreos to Tang, is not in crisis.
