Morgan Stanley,Seana Smith,Michael Wilson

On today's episode of The Morning Brief, Yahoo Finance Hosts Seana Smith and Brad Smith break down some of the market's (^DJI, ^IXIC, ^GSPC) biggest stories ...

, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average opening below its recent record high of 40,000. Morgan Stanley's Michael Wilson, previously bearish on S&P 500 growth, is) is set to post its first quarter earnings for the fiscal 2025 year on Wednesday.

We have Macy's target, bjs and Deckers reporting their quarterly reports as earnings season nears its end.A busy one for Wall Street as futures move higher. You're taking a look at the Dow, the S and P 500 the NASDAQ, the Dow closed about 40,000 for the first time. The next big test for markets this week, Nvidia's earnings secret symbol NVD A gonna be in focus there here. We're taking a look here at the touch screen at some of the big earnings reports that are set to come forth.

So talk to us just about what you're expecting to hear from NVIDIA this week and whether or not you think it's going to live up to those lofty expectations. So every quarter we do this hand wringing process because as you said, in the run up the stock has actually crushed it uh over the past year and a half here.

Uh And then what we're going to see is it branching out which is to, to businesses and on prem data centers and you're gonna see companies like DEV an IBM and H PE and then you're going to see this PC wave, which interestingly enough, I, I think kicks off this week at the Microsoft build conference and then you're gonna have uh the smartphone, uh A I uh build out.

I'm expecting the start of a super cycle in the fourth quarter for these A I devices uh which will inherently have generative A I capabilities. Then Patrick, I think they have nothing to do but, but go up, I don't think they're baked in uh particularly when it comes to uh companies like Apple HP Dell and, and even uh Lenovo and Samsung All right, Patrick Moorhead, who is the more insights and strategy founder, Ceo and chief analyst, Patrick.

So we talk about a bit of a rotation that certainly seems to be playing out within earnings results and investors are taking notice as well.S and P 500 companies citing A I on Q four earning calls. So that takes you back to the previous earnings period.

So in other words, possibly the next leader of Iran uh in that theocratic government and obviously, that's not going to be the case anymore.Uh I guess if there's any good news here guys, it's that nobody is saying Israel did it. Um So there's going to be a perhaps a leadership struggle in Iran but at the moment, no broader implications that we can see the US Treasury Department in the 2019 sanctions announcement called it uh Death Commission. So uh that sanction was announced from the USA few years back here, Rick, ultimately, what should the US be looking for doing if there is any type of kind of way forward in who this next leader is that's elected.Uh It's a theocracy, it has been since 1979.

Yeah, OPEC uh conveying their condolences on the passing of the Iranian president uh this morning here, Rick, thanks so much for taking the time to break this down.Sony and Apollo Global Management have reportedly taken a step forward in their effort to court the streaming giant.Let's get to some trending tickers this morning.

So I think there's questions about whether or not the likelihood of something actually material here. I mean, my goodness, this Tyson uh Jake Paul, I don't even know if we should call that a sanction fight, but I'll leave that for whoever is out there and whoever wants to watch. Remember the likes of Tesla BRD Xon obviously, uh putting some pressure on this, but when it comes to what we just heard, we also wanna call out the delivery numbers because I think that's critical to talk about here when it talks about Leo delivering 80,400 vehicles in Q One.

You compare that with a 19 point 8% margin so larger than this most recent quarter in the first quarter of 2023.And I think just coming back to your point of exactly how this business is going to be able to continue to operate right now and, and make sure that they can ensure investors that they are going to maintain this profit margin.

So that's something that analysts are very closely watching whether or not we are gonna see a tick up in airfare for this summer.
