New Jersey has multiple venues used by the company, including Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford.

A packed crowd waiting for Luke Bryan to play at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ on Saturday, June 24, 2023.New Jersey has become a plaintiff in a federal lawsuit against Live Nation, the proprietor of Ticketmaster, alleging the company is monopolizing the entertainment industry and inflating prices for concertgoers.

Ticketmaster is the world’s largest ticket seller. Live Nation assumed control over the provider in 2010. Live Nation has for years denied that it is violating antitrust laws and said Thursday that the lawsuit “won’t solve the issues fans care about relating to ticket prices, service fees, and access to in-demand shows.”

New Jersey, state officials said, is one of Live Nation’s largest markets, with primary ticket sales reaching approximately $994.83 million, while the face value of these tickets is around $781.17 million. The conduct, the lawsuit alleges, has impacted fans through higher fees, few consumer choices, stifling innovation and a lack of transparency.
