Stocks started the week stymied for direction Monday as first-quarter earnings season picks up steam. The S&P 500 SPX, -0.16% rose less than a point to 2,908.20, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.25% was off 8 points, or less than 0.1%, to 2,604 . The Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, -0.06% rose 5 points, or 0.1%, to 7,989. Shares of Dow component Goldman Sachs GS, -3.02% fell 1.
