Workers, who are represented by Unifor, voted to ratify a new three-year contract Wednesday, ending the strike that started May 5.to the bargaining committee for their tenacious work in securing this deal, which protects members from precarious work and provides them and their families some cushion from the affordability crisis we’re in,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne.

The new deal includes at 3.25 per cent wage increase in the fire year, three per cent in the second year and 2.25 per cent in the last year. The contract also includes a $1 increase each year in the Defined Benefit Pension Plan for non-skilled trades and $2 in each year for skilled trades.
