Forecasts call for an active hurricane season. NOAA is predicting 17 to 25 named storms over the next 6 months. The last time we saw forecasts this alarming was in 2020 when there were 30 named storms, 14 of which were hurricanes, including Hurricane Sally. From Mobile to Pensacola , Hurricane Sally dumped up to 30 inches of rain and caused wide spread damage and left more than a half million people without power.

“During a hurricane everyone is on standby and that includes our crews, our engineers, our people who work in our control centers...really our whole team is working together to ensure our customers can get their power on as quickly as possible safely and reliably,” said Alabama Power’s Beth Thomas. “And then we'll be working as quickly after that to make restorations in areas that we can restore the largest amount of power to the most people and we'll continue that process until power is restored to everyone”.
