The official figures on how many people attended SailGP in Halifax on the weekend, and the event’s economic spinoff for the city, won’t be available for a few weeks, though it’s expected to be in the area of $14 million. The owner of Ambassatours said on Monday that total revenue for the weekend was $123.532.79, more than double the revenue generated on the same weekend in 2023, which was $60,543.55.

In addition to the Harbour Hoppers, Ambassatours operates three large tour boats, the Tall Ship Silva, the Harbour Queen and the Kawartha Spirit. “These were very avid sailors, they were from Ontario, and they said the viewing of the race from George’s Island was spectacular,” he said. “That was really good to hear.”

Bowie said this month looks like the busiest in the long history of the property, and is a very busy conference month, but that having events like SailGP come to the city is fantastic.
