It’s also why he joined exclusive company Sunday, joining Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as two-time U.S.

The Crushers GC captain may have been the most popular player Sunday at Pinehurst, which would have been inconceivable three years ago. After going 49-for-49 on putts inside of 5 feet, McIlroy missed two putts under four feet for pars on the final four holes which would have given him his first major title in 10 years. McIlroy shot 5 over on the final four holes on the weekend. This defeat will sting for a long time.
