The Fresh Market opening at now-shuttered Dom’s location this fall

Bruce Albert shops at Dom’s Kitchen & Market in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood on Dec. 21, 2022. A North Carolina-based grocer is planning to open a store this fall in the former Dom’s Kitchen & Market location in Lincoln Park, the company confirmed Thursday.

A spokesperson for The Fresh Market confirmed it planned to open a store this fall, saying the company aimed “to deliver a familiar yet elevated shopping experience” in Lincoln Park. Dom’s Lincoln Park, along with Dom’s Old Town and 33 Foxtrot locations, shuttered abruptly in April five months after the companies announced plans to merge. Some former workers said they found out they were out of their jobs in the middle of their shifts, and employees swiftly filed several lawsuits alleging violations of the state and federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Acts.
