pRide-sharing pioneer Uber Technologies Inc. and California-based venture capital firm Khosla Ventures led the Series B funding round, which also included chipmaker Nvidia Corp., Volvo Group Venture Capital, Porsche SE and Scania Invest, among others.

Autonomous vehicle startup Waabi has reeled in US$200 million from a series of high-profile tech and auto industry investors, as the Toronto-based company gears up to deploy fully autonomous commercial trucks in the United States next year.

The cash infusion comes as Waabi prepares to put its first fully autonomous commercial trucks on Texas roads in 2025. “That enables us to be so much more capital-efficient and so fast to market,” she told attendees at the Collision tech conference in Toronto June 18.
