Football clubs are facing a mini-transfer deadline on Sunday, but finance expert Kieran Maguire does not think Leeds United will go into it in danger of being held to ransom.

Clubs this year have until 11pm on August 30 to make their signings for the second half of the season. But points deductions for Everton and Nottingham Forest last season, and investigations into Leicester City, Manchester City and others show the growing seriousness authorities are attaching to their financial fair play rules – or 'profit and sustainability rules' as the Football League call them.

Brennan Johnson's market value did not go from £30m to £45m between the end of June and the end of August. 'The clubs trying to buy were trying to low-ball and if I was in their position I would do exactly the same. 'But I think from a PSR point of view Leeds are in a relatively strong position. I'm one of the more relaxed people with regards to their PSR position.
