Denver Public Schools said the students' work at the summer Renewable Energy Academy will help them step into solar industry careers.DENVER — School is the last thing on most students' minds once summer vacation rolls around, but one group of high schoolers is spending their vacations getting the hands-on education they need to step into the solar industry.

"It's huge, actually," said Monica Schultz, a senior manager with Denver's Career and College Success Department. "Students are experiencing a lot of climate anxiety, they don't know what their future is going to hold," Schultz said."So this is an opportunity to be proactive and to really invest in their future in terms of the planet but also in terms of careers they might pursue to support the effort to save the Earth."
