On Saturday, Ouma Isie’s tea garden at Smuts House, Irene, was buzzing as people from around Pretoria flocked into the venue to buy local products and for some delicious food.

Lance Miller of the market said the aim was to bring residents of Pretoria together in a very pleasant natural environment.

He said the market will be held once a month, where you can buy anything from arts and crafts to books, leather products, clothes, fresh produce and handbags. Miller said Jan Smuts House Museum is well-known in Irene as the past residence of field marshal Jan Smuts. “If you come here, you shouldn’t rush; the whole idea of the market is that it’s laid-back, and you bring your whole family and friends to spend some time on Saturday or Sunday,” said Miller.Do you have more information about the story? For free breaking and community news, visit Rekord’s websites: Rekord East
