Comal Springs,New Braunfels,Water Levels

Some businesses along the Comal River worry low water flow in the Comal Springs will lead to low water level in the Comal River and dry up business.

The Edwards Aquifer started implementing stricter water restrictions on Monday, citing low water flow from the Comal Springs in New Braunfels. Water flow at the Comal Springs has been on a decline since March with the lowest water levels recorded in June.

A perfect example of how low water flows from the Comal Springs is Landa Park in New Braunfels. Usually, there’s water coming from openings in the rock bed but right now, it’s totally dry. Nalls said her business is good right now, she’s worried lower water levels on the Comal River could discourage people from visiting New Braunfels.

“A lot of families from anywhere especially Dallas, I mean heck we have even had someone from Nebraska,” said Thompson.“We get customers asking about the water level all the time but whatever answer they get they always want to go on the water anyway,” said Thompson.
