It had been expected that Budget 2025 would take place on Tuesday, October 8 but Minister Jack Chambers, who took over the finance portfolio from Michael McGrath last week, confirmed the budget will be held earlier.

Finance Minister Jack Chambers has confirmed that the budget will be held early. However, he insisted that the decision to bring budget 2025 forward is not due to an early general election.Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, Minister Chambers, who took over the finance portfolio from Michael McGrath last week, confirmed the budget will be held on Tuesday October 1.

Asked if the budget was being brought forward to facilitate an election being called in the autumn, Mr Chambers said “absolutely not”. He also argued that the budget was only being brought forward by one week and was not being held much earlier than had been anticipated.
