An LA councilwoman and noted cannabis activist who played a major part in the push for the legalization and regulation of cannabis in her city is accused of secretly profiting from the cannabis industry, according to an investigation by the Los Angeles Times.

Castro failed to disclose Weedmaps, or any other cannabis-industry participants, as clients when she filed her mandatory state financial reports.California law dictates that any elected official in the state that collects a minimum of USD$10,000 per year for consulting must identify those clients if they are conducting business, or intend to do so, within the jurisdiction of that official.
