Signs of recovery in SA's office market as vacancies drop

The office sector appears to be definitively turning the corner, particularly the top end, with the latest survey from SA's largest commercial property association showing an eighth consecutive quarter of improving vacancies.

The South African Property Owners' Association's latest office vacancy survey that these improvements were coming at the expense of rental growth, but asking rentals also eked out 0.8% in the three months to end-June as well. "While this is still well below inflation it may signal that demand is currently closer to supply than it has been since before the pandemic," the association said.
