Liberal insiders are questioning whether Chrystia Freeland’s time as finance minister is in jeopardy in the wake of reporting byon divisions between her and the Prime Minister’s Office, and suggestions that Mark Carney might be tapped to replace her. But some are doubting that PMO would actually remove Freeland, who has stayed loyal to the PM throughout his rocky tenure in office, or that Carney would swoop into replace her as doing so would tie him to an unpopular government heading to the polls in just over a year.
