: The government has identified Terengganu, Pahang, Sabah and Sarawak as potential leaders in the carbon capture, utilisation and storage industry.

Rafizi noted that CCUS, one of the pilot projects in the National Energy Transition Roadmap, is a high-impact industry which is expected to bring economic benefits to the states involved. “At the Federal level, we see the potential for Kerteh to expand beyond the existing petrochemical and oil-based industries. CCUS can act as a catalyst for the development of new heavy industries in Terengganu,“ he added.
