Great food and privacy in a large bed – if you can find a spot for your feet.

| 24K on the A380, which is a window seat at the back of the cabin, just in front of an emergency exit and toilets. The makes the business class seats on the A380 feel super private. It’s only when I stand up at the end of the flight with the rest of the passengers that I realise the cabin has been at capacity. I only noticed about three other passengers get up during the flight.

On the return trip, it’s a different story. Make sure you spend time in the impressive SilverKris Lounge at Changi – once you set foot inside, nothing will compare. It’s the biggest of all Singapore Airlines’ business class lounges globally, with a full buffet area on one side , a bar with a range of wines and cocktail options, a kids’ room, sleeping area with reclining chairs, separate business, dining and lounge areas, and bathrooms with individual shower facilities.

As much as I wanted to test the on-board quality of SIA’s Singapore Sling, I opted for a Midsummer Breeze mocktail. It promised to be “invigorating” and despite it being made up of pre-made juices and sprite it certainly delivered. It wasn’t too sweet either … so I had two.The stewardess in charge of my section was experienced and lovely. She could see I was pregnant and pampered me with extra pillows and was particularly concerned about how I was coping with the turbulence.
