Ntanzi is one of five men accused of murdering the Bafana Bafana football captain in 2014.

Ramosepele, who represents Bongani Ntanzi, has cross-examined Vodacom’s Forensic liaison supervisor Pinky Vythilingam at the High Court in Pretoria on cellphone activities and towers.

Ntanzi was arrested in June 2020 while working at a mine in Rustenberg, North West. He was then detained at Villieria police station in Pretoria. The state says he was found in possession of a phone in his prison cell in February the next year. According to Pinky Vythilingam, Ntanzi’s number pinged at Queenswood Tower outside the police station on several occasions. However, defence counsel Ramosepele maintains two phones were confiscated from Ntanzi immediately after his arrest.

Although they admit that the number mentioned belongs to Ntanzi, Ramosepele claims that the investigating officers were in possession of the phone.
