The crash happened Saturday on Route 72, about 4 miles from Long Beach Island in Ocean County.

The 24-year-old vice president of a scrap metal business died Saturday evening in a fiery crash involving another vehicle near the Jersey Shore, according to police.

Kevin Scoda, of Edison, died after his vehicle collied with another car on Route 72 in Stafford Township in Ocean County, police said Tuesday. The crash happened near highway’s intersection with Mill Creek Road.Scoda graduated from the Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University in 2022, according to his obituary.

Both cars were eastbound on Route 72 going toward Long Beach Island around 7:45 p.m. when the cars collided, police said. The impact caused Scoda’s car to leave the road, crash into a utility pole and catch fire, police said. Bystanders helped Scoda from the vehicle.
