Holt Cat News

Holt Cat denies the allegations made against it by Oryx Oilfield Services Inc. and affiliated companies that filed for bankruptcy this month.

The owner of a North Texas oil field services company is blaming San Antonio trucking and heavy-equipment company Holt Cat and others for it landing in bankruptcy. In a July 17 bankruptcy court declaration filed five days after Southlake-based Oryx Oilfield Services LLC sought Chapter 11, owner Matthew Mahone cited a four-year-old lawsuit against Holt Texas Ltd., which does business as Holt Cat, and other equipment suppliers for contributing to its situation.

Two other of his companies — Kodiak Trenching and Boring LLC and Kodiak Excavation and Utilities LLC — that provided trenching and boring services for energy and civil construction projects also filed for bankruptcy protection. While both Oryx companies were “substantially crippled by the fraudulent scheme,” according to the lawsuit, both Kodiak companies were “completely destroyed.
