JCA is continuing its call for the City's Executive Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda to resign

The Johannesburg Crisis Alliance is continuing its call for the City’s Executive Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda to resign.

The JCA says this call is made in the wake of the significant decline in citizen confidence and trust in the leadership of the executive mayor and his mayoral committee. The alliance highlights a number of problems plaguing the city and warns of a deepening crisis looming. Executive manager for local government at OUTA, Julius Kleinhans and also a member of the JCA says, “We want proper leadership. We need seasoned politicians to take the reigns. The current leadership I don’t think we can trust a lot of those folks in council, especially not those who have been part of roping in these coalitions, and been part of the disruption.

“People need to also understand that two years from now it’s the local elections. So, as a civil society, now we need to demand proper concrete plans on how to turn the city around. And it needs to be tangible, it needs to be transparent. I think that will be attractive for businesses and individuals,” adds Kleinhans.
