Gwarube visits scene of the collision between a bus and train that cost the lives of six learners.

The scene of the accident where scholar transport bus collided with a train on the R104 between Arnot and Wonderfontein in Mpumalanga.Minister of Basic Education Siviwe Gwarube, Deputy Minister of Transport Mkhuleko Hlengwa and officials of the Mpumalanga government, visited the scene of the collision between a bus and train that cost the lives of six learners.

According to police, the scholar transport bus did not stop at the level crossing line which lead to the tragedy. “The children were always coming home very late without knowing what’s happening. Yesterday we found that the driver drops them off at school and go drink alcohol, we are in so much pain,” a parent said.

“It is with great sadness that we have lost some of our school mates like we were with them yesterday and now they are no more,” another learner says.
