During Seattle's busiest tourism season, coffee giant Starbucks abruptly closed the doors to its 1st and Pike location.Starbucks would not confirm why they closed the store but said it was temporary despite any plans to re-open the storefront. Starbucks spokesperson Sam Jefferies would not confirm if the closure was due to safety concerns.

“After careful consideration, we’ve determined it is best to close the store at 2742 Alki Avenue," a Starbucks spokesperson said. "Our last day at this location will be August 11, 2024.” The company said that all Starbucks employees at the Alki location will have the opportunity to transfer to a nearby location in Seattle.
