FF+ blames DA for the collapse of their agreement in Langeberg Municipality.

Freedom Front Plus has blamed the Democratic Alliance for the collapse of their long-term agreement in Langeberg Municipality, Western Cape.

The two parties formed a coalition government in the municipality after the 2021 local government elections in which no party got an outright majority. The DA says that the FF+ and the African National Congress are planning to join forces to propose a motion of no confidence in one of its mayors.Van Niekerk says, “Paragraph 1.1 of the coalition agreement says the coalition shall be called the coalition government or the multi-party coalition and no single party shall claim ownership of it. All over the show, it is the DA-led coalition, that’s what you hear.

“The DA wants a rubber stamp, they don’t want the coalition partner. They want somebody who sits in the corner and be quiet and only when they need you to assist them in pushing their motion through a council then you must raise your hand and support their motions,” he adds.
