County drew 0-0 with Tranmere Rovers as the new season got underway

Stuart Maynard believes the decision to sell Aaron Nemane to MK Dons for an undisclosed fee plus Conor Grant was “great business” from Notts County. The latter made his debut in the Magpies ’ 0-0 draw with Tranmere Rovers on Saturday as the league campaign got underway.

Grant was on loan at Barnsley in League One for the second half of last season and was a crucial part of the team as they made it to the play-offs, losing in the semi-finals to Bolton. Notts lost an important player from last season in Nemane, but they felt that what they could gain as a result was too good to turn down and that is how Maynard saw it as well.

“We thank Aaron for all of his hard work, especially during the promotion season, but we’ve got to worry about ourselves now and Conor has come in which is a great addition and great business from the football club. Notts are lighter in the wing-back areas as a result of Nemane’s departure, and both their new additions in those areas, Kellan Gordon and Nick Tsaroulla, are not currently fit enough to play. There are other places where one or two more additions would be welcomed, with Maynard reiterating the club’s stance on transfers between now and the deadline.
