Thank you, South Africa! That was the message from South Africa’s Olympic Games medalists who returned to the country on Tuesday.
“Keep it up. Keep up the good work. I am very proud of you. You’ve done so well. It doesn’t matter if you win, you lose, come last, you come first, we’ll always be proud of you,” a fan said. The stars were greeted by Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie. They were part of the elite group of athletes who brought back six medals from Paris.
Tatjana Smith, who announced her retirement after winning gold and silver, said it was an honour to wear the green and gold and to sing the national anthem.
