San Antonio city leaders are pausing discussions over the proposed curfew for HemisFair Park. The proposal comes after a string of gun violence in the area.

SAN ANTONIO - City leaders have paused conversations about the proposed curfew for HemisFair Park. The proposal comes after a string of gun violence seen in the area over the summer, but city councilmembers said they don’t have enough information to decide.

“The curfew consideration that we heard today is the first time many of our city council colleagues have gotten a chance to look at it,” said San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg. “You’ve got the statistical part of this that says a curfew is not necessary. You got the other side of this that is a perception that’s driving this right now,” said Chief McManus.

“Lately, that has changed where we’re having to put on locks on certain things that we just haven’t had to in the past. With some curfew and other security measures on the park that would probably help those situations,” said Maxim Lang, Manager at Commonwealth Coffeehouse and Bakery at Hemisfair.
