SANParks says it's important to preserve elephants for future generations.

Elephant poaching continues to be a threat in the Kruger National Park, with some fearing the extinction of the animal.

There is an abundance of wildlife to observe in the Kruger National Park, including the more than 26,000 elephants. These magnificent animals form part of the world-renowned Big Five and count among the most intelligent gentle creatures on the planet. But humans pose a danger to them – hunting them for their tusks and meat.

“As South African National Parks, we are into the conservation of these species so that future generations can enjoy them. And on the side of tourism, people come from all over the world to come and see these species living in the wild. So there is a difference between going to a zoo and seeing them caged and or seeing them in their natural habitat, he explains.Meanwhile, a helicopter often helps track threatened species within the park.
