The National Transmission Company South Africa has signed agreements with 19 local companies to help the state-owned entity increase its infrastructure capabilities.
It added that services provided will include engineering detailed designs, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handing over of assets to the NTCSA. According to the NTCSA, its strategy highlights a commitment to continuity and stability in the energy sector, as it will provide these companies with a platform to compete for various tenders.
The NTCSA added that the process for being appointed to the EPC panel will be opened to the market in July each year to allow other companies to participate. Expanding South Africa’s transmission grid is critical to its renewable energy plans and to helping solve the country’s energy crisis.
